Walking in a winter wonderland…..that’s what it felt like this morning as I briskly walked down my road. Jack was sooo excited that we were going out for another walk. He wanted me to run with him, but the snowboats made it difficult, eventually though he had accumulated enough snow that it was weighing him down. Jack is a tiny dog but he could have easily been mistaken for a snowball at this point
Normally at this time of year I have had enough snow and I am desperately waiting for spring and summer to come. But we have been really lucky and have had mild winter. I realize the last couple of mornings that I have been depriving myself of nature and fresh air. So it has felt wonderful to spend time outside while I have working toward achieving my goal of a lean and healthy body.
Exercise is addictive. I can feel the endorphins being released it seems. When I am walking I feel like coming back and doing another workout, or I will tell myself that I will fit it in before the end of the day. I know that when things settle down for me that is exactly what I will do.
February blues I think come with not getting enough exercise or fresh air…so if you are not feeling 100 percent these days I would strongly recommend a walk in the winter wonderland.
Sorry that I stood you up Tony, it seems I had a date with nature this morning!!
Today I woke up and looked outside and the biggest snowflakes were falling so I decided that I needed to go outside for another brisk walk. I took my little dog Jack with me. He is a Silky Terrier and weighs about 8 or so pounds. As I was trudging through the snow we came upon a large black dog, unleashed, heading straight for us. So that is when I introduced weight training with my cardio workout. I carried him for about 15 minutes as the dog escorted us down the road. Eventually his owner drove by to pick him up and bring him home and I could rest my muscles and let him down.
I loved every minute of my walk. I loved being outside in the stillness. I loved the fresh air and the feeling of the wet snowflakes melting on my face. I loved that I was exercising and I realized on my way home that I had been smiling for the full hour. I realize that I have been working so many hours these days in front of my computer that my soul was aching to be outside in nature. What a beautiful way to start my day, and now I can end it by sharing it with you.
How do you start your day each morning?
I’m back!! This morning as I was taking the garbage out I was overwhelmed by the beauty surrounding me. As I walked to the end of my laneway I was compelled to keep going, it was a perfect way to get back into my daily exercise program. I felt good to get moving again, to take time out for myself and to enjoy the beauty of the day. When you fall of the wagon, sometimes it is hard to get back on, it is hard to explain really because when you are on program you feel incredible and you can’t imagine struggling to go back to doing what you love.
Take a first step to get you back on track, even if it is a small one it means you are moving in the right direction. Napolean Hill Said it best when he said “success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal” Enjoy your journey to becoming lean and healthy even if you are not exactly where you want to be today, know that your lean and healthy body is on it’s way !!
So it seems I have fallen off the wagon folks for the last 4 days. I could offer you a host of exceptional reasons as to why I didn’t have time or make time to do my work out but they are really just excuses.
So I am not going to beat myself up, I am going to acknowldge that I have worked really hard to incorporate exercise into my already full schedule for 37 days and I am going to jump back on tomorrow. A new day, a fresh start and a renewed commitment to being lean and healthy.
Have a great sleep
I know I have been a little sporadic with my exercising and my blogging but I have been battling a flu bug. I believe the battle is over and I WON!!! lol!! I did my workout today on a stepping machine. I haven’ t used one of them in a very long time!!! It was great to use different muscles, but I will be happy to get back to my P90X program and to Tony….
I have been watching the men’s figure skating tonight and I think that there are a number of them that have come down with the flu that are just not performing to their standard. That is how I feel but for me there is much less at stake. None the less the feeling of not meeting or beating your personal best is something that can destroy your motivation and confidence. The key is to talk yourself through it. To remind yourself what you are capable of and then live into it.
I plan to live with no regrets, no compromises and with confidence that I can do whatever I set my mind to. What are your plans?
Happy New Year!!! For those of you that are thinking about joining our challenge it is a perfect day to set your goal. Today is Chinese New Years and a great opportunity to make a commitment to yourself and to others that you want to make a change in your actions to change your results. I am already at Day 36….it has been a challenging week though and I am still not feeling 100% . But I am listening to my body, I spent most of the day in bed resting to rebuild my strength. I did venture out to the health food store to pick up some supplements and some organic food to help nurse me back to full health. I have been reading a new book called “the gabriel method” it is an incredible story of one man’s journey to become lean and healthy without dieting and without surgery. He lost over 200 pounds and looks absolutely incredible, a lot of what he teaches is included in Les’ body thought program and resulted in her losing over 100 pounds. He talks about why we resist exercise and that once we have the right program running it will be something we do naturally, effortlessly, we just have to turn off our fat program and turn on our lean program.
So I am working on turning on my lean program!! I hope you will join me!
Well I am happy to say that I did my workout again this morning and tonight I am very grateful I did. I am just getting home from a really nice evening -dinner on the canal – a tasty beavertail and a walk to enjoy the ice sculptures with two incedible ladies!! So I am thank-ful that I can go to bed now and I look forward to working out tomorrow morning.
I have been intentional about visualizing my next day at night before I go to bed and it is almost like pre-programing myself for a productive and good day. I am also visualizing myself in my lean and fit body. Visualization is a very key method in the manifestation process and in establishing a new habit or creating a new belief. It is easy and cost nothing. You simply close your eyes and relax and paint the picture of whatever it is you want to experience or attract into your life. Now feel what it feels like to have whatever it is as if you already have it.
Now simply wait for it to come to you!
Have a good night
I am not sure how to count today, since I took two days off because I was sick…Is it Day 34 or Day 36?
As most of you are aware I have been battling the flu for the last several days, but this morning I was feeling a little better and decided that I would work out in the morning. I did Tony Horton’s 10 minute full body workout. It felt great!!! Even though it was only a ten minute workout, I honestly don’t think my body would have been able to handle anything more.
The best part about working out in the mornig was that when I was driving home from our group coaching tonight, I knew that I could come home and go straight to bed!!!! I really like this feeling. So tomorrow morning I plan to do the same, to start my day off right looking after me first. Even though I would fit my exercise in before I went to bed, the subliminal message I was sending to myself was that I would look after me last.
What messages are your actions telling you?
I just wanted to check in and let you know that I am down for the count. It seems that I have pickec up a flu bug and have not been feeling well. So my lesson for today is listen to your body. Mine is saying rest . So that is what I am doing.
What is your body telling you to do?
MaryC (cough, sniff sniff)
Hello everyone, I realize I am a little late posting but I just realized I hadn’t posted my exercise for today and wanted to share with you what I had done!! Today was the first day of Winterlude in Ottawa which is a very magical time for Ottawa. It is a time that we truly celebrate that we are Canadian. The Rideau Canal was opened up for skating and so you can skate from Dow’s lake all the way to Downtown Ottawa if you like. The problem is you have to make it back somehow!!! So today I took my son down to the canal. We arrived in the early afternoon and skated until the sun was going down so around 3 hours of being on the ice and or outside in the cold crisp air. We had planned to share a Beavertail but the lineups were crazy and so my son opted for a poutine and a hot dog and I had a nice hot coffee which helped to warm my hands and oh yeah we both had some taffy on a stick 🙂 lipsmack!!
It was a perfect day, my son and I both had a really fun time chasing each other down the canal and feeling the energy of the thousands of other skaters on the canal. I realized that I am not getting outside enough and am definitely not getting enough sunshine, but today I got both and I will sleep like a baby tonight.
If you are contemplating what to do for exercise tomorrow, head down to the Canal, or if you are not from Ottawa head down to the outdoor skating rink and enjoy the day!! I know that today I certainly did…thanks Ronnie!!
